Give me ideas for things to add to the abney.com website.  thx!
I'm just going to throw a few ideas out there. I would like to see info links such as census records military records court records w/abney name origin
and where they came from how they got here where they landed when they first started and where they migrated to. Other surnames w/abneys and a blank Abney Family Tree template people can fill in and post A photo section  looking for info on abneys by state the list is endless Start with your Abney bio for instance i have traced mine back to edmund Abney 1634 England

Hello Steven,

My name is Amber Elizabeth Abney, I live and was born in Albertville, Alabama. I am married now and have a little girl that is 16 months old. It wasn't until my own mother (married an Abney) started delving into her own past to try and find out about her dads side of the family that I was amazed at the wealth of information she was coming back with. Although she has not been able to find very much on her dad. One day she just got feed-up with coming up empty on him that she typed in her mother's maiden name (turner) and with in days she had found who her great, great, great, grandfather and grandmother were, and a whole bunch of cousins and that we (she) is the desendent of 2 civil warsmen, and one of them fought with General Robert E. Lee. And about 20% of her own family lives right here in the same town. She never would have known because not only are their last names different, but all of her family on her mom's side has passes away, except for a few cousins in Georgia. Anyway, I am new to the Abney web page and wanted to introduce myself. So hello from Alabama, hope to talk/write you again soon.

I am Janet Hartman. My mother, Grace Abney was born in Mt. Vernon
Ky. as was her father, Wesley Alfred Abney. They lived in the Brush Creek
area as did the Drews, Mullins & others who are in the family by marriage.
I have worked on the geneology of the family, off & on for a number
of years, but only recently picked it up again. Being on a fixed income
doesn't allow me to join Ancestry.com. Although I have taken advantage
of the free times, they don't last long enough.
Did you know that the Johnetta Cemetery in the Brush Creek area, it
is called the Abney cemetery. In there you will find a head stone, it is white I think & stands a couple of feet above ground. It's for a William Abney who served in the Revolutionary War. Which means that there is some females
in the family, don't know about the men, who can belong to the Daughters
OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION. Or DAR. I'm not sure just what is involved
other than being able to prove a personal connection.
Only a couple of days ago I found this site. I am sure we are cousins.
I was born here in Hamilton, Ohio. My mother married John Lawrence Shell
in 1945. I was born in 1946 here in Hamilton. Mama moved back to
Mt. Vernon in the 1970's & died there. She is buried here next to my
I am looking forward to hearing from you & any others who are Abney.
       God Bless You.

Dear Steven,
I am new to Abney.com and was very happy to find this website. I don't know much about my roots as all of my family has passed away. I was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1949 and moved to Louisiana in 1954, then to Dallas in 1957. After I married, I moved to Houston, Texas. Both my parents were from Oklahoma but I don't think my dad lived there as a baby. His father and mother were William and Melissa Abney. They passed away in 1963. I have a few cousins I know but I don't know where they are. One of the ten children in my dads family moved to Aizonia and one moved to California.  I am going to join ancestry.com  and try and find your site. If you get this please respond and let me know how much information you have.  We could be related but I don't know.

Thank You,
Donna Gann

I am Steven Glen Abney. I currently live in Marion, Indiana. Most of my family is from Rockcastle County Kentucky. My father is Glen Monroe Abney son of Lester and Dorothy Abney. I have posted my tree on Ancestry.com under the Tree Name of 20070304StevenGlenAbney. I have about 2700 names posted. I have not documented the info. Need to learn the best way to do that. It is stuff I have found from lost of sites. Has been a lot of fun to read what the Abney's have done in life.
